ABOUT ME
My name is Katie Wydick and I am an early childhood educator with experience working with toddlers and elementary students. I am originally from Davis, California, but have been living and working in the small town of Sonora for the past few years. Since 2022, I have had the opportunity to work closely with young children as a student teacher at the Columbia Child Development Center. I recently graduated from Columbia College with my Associates in Social and Behavioral Sciences, Associates in Child Development, and Child Development Assistant permit. Currently, I have moved on to Chico State to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies, and a minor in Special Education, to further my experience in child development. In my free time, I enjoy all kinds of art, gardening, and working with animals.
MY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION STORY
The field of child education is an immersive, engaging career. As a teacher, I strive to be someone who keeps up with the field and the latest research on child development. I have seen firsthand how impactful a teacher can be in a child's life, and how important quality care and education are. In my life, I have had several teachers who changed my world as a child, and I dream of being the next teacher who has that same impact. Growing up as a CODA (Child Of Deaf Adults) I have also specifically seen the need for more teachers and support in Deaf Education. Therefore, I feel drawn to the field of early childhood education in the hopes of supporting children who are historically underrepresented, because I know how the change even one teacher can make.
